Celebrate!
I meant to mention this newsworthy tidbit much sooner but working on my book has taken over my life:
My client Marsha Johnson, lawyer-turned-independent film producer, has created a powerful film, NY’s Dirty Laundry, with her sister, writer/actor/director Patrice Johnson. It’s the story of Arab/Muslim and Black/Caribbean communities in New York interacting in the aftermath of 9/11. I saw the film at the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival here in Atlanta and was wowed. Check out the film’s website for more details (and to purchase your own copy!): http://www.nysdirtylaundry.com/
And speaking of the book, drum roll please, I finished the manuscript of Getting Hit by a Bus Isn’t the Answer: A Road Map for Finding Meaningful Work Outside of the Law and submitted it to my publisher, Sourcebooks! Remember back in October I mentioned my fears about writing the thing? I’ve done it! And I’m very excited by the results. I’m hopeful it will be a tremendous resource for you, with lots of helpful tools, tips, and exercises, as well as some insightful interviews from other lawyers who’ve left the law. The book will be out in 2008 but I’ll keep you posted.
